Adorable photos show Duke and Duchess meeting new royal grandchild over Zoom
Crown Prince Guillaume and Princess Stephanie of Luxembourg have become parents for the first time, announcing the arrival of a baby boy.
And now, adorable photo have been released of the moment Guillaume’s parents, the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of Luxembourg met their grandchild for the first time over a video call.
The caption on the royal Facebook page there was “immense joy” at their residence, Château de Berg, when they locked eyes on the baby boy for the first time.
“A digital meeting, of course, but charged with emotion,” the caption said.
Prince Guillaume and Princess Stephanie earlier took to the official royal Twitter account to make the announcement, writing: "The Hereditary couple is delighted to announce the birth of their son this Sunday, May 10, 2020 at 5:13 a.m. at the Maternity Grande-Duchesse Charlotte in Luxembourg.”
They went on to reveal his name, saying: “The baby will bear the first names of Charles Jean Philippe Joseph Marie Guillaume. The child weighs 3.190 kg and is 50 cm tall."
Stéphanie’s pregnancy was revealed back in December by the marshall of the court on the royal family’s website, alongside some adorable photos of the couple.
“Their Royal Highnesses the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess are immensely pleased to announce that the Hereditary Grand Duke and Hereditary Grand Duchess are expecting Their first child,” the statement reads.

“The birth is scheduled for May. The Grand Duke, the Grand Duchess and the members of both families are delighted with the news and share their great joy.”
Prince Guillaume is the oldest child of Grand Duke Henri Luxembourg and his wife, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, who made the announcement on the couple’s behalf.
The royal couple married in a civil ceremony in 2012 at the Luxembourg City Hall, after dating for three years.
In October 2012, they held a wedding at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Luxembourg, with Stephanie donning an intricate lace gown by Elie Saab.
The reception was held at the Grand Ducal Palace, with dignitaries and royals from all over the world in attendance.
Princess Mary and Prince Frederik dressed up in their finery for the occasion, with the Crown Princess looking stunning in a burgundy skirt and suit combo.
