Most of us could happily have watched many more episodes of Netflix's Tiger King: Murder Mayhem and Madness, but the show was only a limited series so we've all been left hungry for more. Thankfully, a TV miniseries is already in the works, with Oscar winning actor Nicholas Cage set to star as zoo owner Joe Exotic.

Here's everything else we know about the upcoming Tiger King series...

What's the plot of the new Tiger King series?

The series, which has now been picked up by Amazon Prime Video, will be made up of eight episodes and will centre around Joe Shreibvogel and how he became Joe Exotic. It's based on an article in Texas Monthly from June 2019, called, Joe Exotic: A Dark Journey Into the World of a Man Gone Wild by Leif Reigstad.

Is there a trailer?

Unfortunately we don't have a trailer yet. According to Deadline the show is being executive produced by Nicholas Cage with showrunners from American Vandal and Key & Peele also working on the series.

Who has been cast in it?

Well, Nicholas Cage, of course. And with all the potential for 'Nicholas-Cage-tigers-in-a-cage' jokes, could you even want for anything else? Probably, yes...

So far, Cage's role as Joe Exotic is the only one that's been cast, but Twitter is full of suggestions as to who should play other characters in the story so all we can do is wait and see if any of those turn out to be correct.

What else do we know about the new Tiger King series?

At the moment, not a huge amount. Deadline says of the show, "The series will live in the lion’s den with Joe, explore how he became Joe Exotic, and how he lost himself to a character of his own creation."

Aside from that we know that another project starring Kate McKinnon as Carole Baskin has been in the works since November last year, based on the podcast, Joe exotic: Tiger King from US network Wondery. This project was announced before Netflix's documentary was aired.

There's also a spin-off focusing on the disappearance of Carole's ex-husband Don Lewis, set to appear on the Discovery Channel. The limited series, titled, Investigating the Strange World of Joe Exotic, doesn't yet have a release date, but according to ID will show "the investigation you didn’t get to see".

Do we have a release date for the new Tiger King series?

Not yet, but rest assured we are readying our mullets in preparation.
