MAFS' Jess Power on 'traumatic' reunion clash with Cyrell Paule

Married At First Sight’s Jessika Power has opened up about the ‘traumatic’ clash she had with co-star Cyrell Paule while filming the upcoming ‘Grand Reunion Special’ back in December 2020.

The 28-year-old admitted that she cried twice during the two-night shoot in a candid Q&A session with her followers on Instagram Stories on Monday.

When asked what moved her to tears, Jess revealed that she became emotional after reviewing footage from her time on the show back in 2019.

“I got to see and watch back our time on our season. Watching it all back gave me quite a bit of emotion, and I was a little bit upset,” she said.

While she added that there were ‘two times’ when she cried at the reunion, Jess didn’t elaborate on the reasons behind her second breakdown.

‘Traumatic’ run-in

Jess did, however, spill more details on her fiery run-in with Cyrell, who ended up pouring a glass of wine over Jess’ white frock after accusing her of saying ‘nasty things’ about her partner, Love Island’s Eden Dally, and their son.

“I don't think somebody necessarily deals with Cyrell,” she responded to a fan query about the incident.

“It’s all about what you want to take in, and how you want the outcome of the conversation to be.”

Jess went on to say that she approached the encounter with a ‘clear head’ which, in her opinion, only frustrated Cyrell, 32, more.

“It goes down guys. It’s going to be really traumatic to watch back but really entertaining for you guys,” she said.

Elsewhere in the Q&A, Jess said that she feels ‘confident’ about how she handled herself during filming, and that coming face-to-face with Cyrell was ‘confronting’.

“Cyrell was just on fire that entire night,” she said.

Jess also admitted that she ‘definitely’ has regrets about her time on Married At First Sight; “If I started listing my regrets, this whole Q&A would be about it,” she joked.

‘B*tch is back!’

MAFS viewers were given a tiny taste of the upcoming drama between Jess and Cyrell in a recent sneak peek promo for the highly anticipated TV event.

In the clip, mum-of-one Cyrell is seen storming into the dinner party wearing a glittering gold mini dress and announcing, “The bitch is back!”

Back in early January, Cyrell admitted to throwing a glass of wine over Jessika in a series of heated Instagram Stories posts and while the promo didn’t reveal the climactic moment it was clear tensions were high.

Cyrell, who shares baby boy Boston with Love Island star Eden Dally, offered some context for her behaviour toward Jess, claiming that she had “said nasty things towards me, my family, my relationship, my child.”

Jess responded to the allegations that she ‘bullied’ Cyrell and her 11-month-old son, Boston, saying that she “never spoke negatively about her child” but admitted that she did comment on Cyrell’s relationship with Eden.

Shortly afterwards, Cyrell told Yahoo Lifestyle in an exclusive chat that she’s more than happy to embrace the role of the ‘bad guy’ in order to stand up for herself and her loved ones.

“I’m ready to be the next bad guy if it means standing strong for what I believe in,” she said.

So safe to say we can expect ‘Cyclone Cyrell’ to return in full force.

When does the Married At First Sight ‘Grand Reunion Event’ start?

The Married At First Sight reunion special will air over two nights: 7pm Sunday, January 31 and 7.30pm Monday, February 1, on Channel Nine.

Back in December, the network confirmed the project was underway, leaving fans of the explosive reality show champing at the bit to learn which familiar faces will be returning.

Along with Cyrell Paule and Jessika Power, Ines Basic, Ryan Gallagher, Mike Gunner, Dean Wells, Nasser Sultan (who reportedly also had a tiff with Cyrell during filming) and Lizzie Sobinoff and Seb Guilhaus, who recently called it quits are set to appear in the two-part special.

And it’s not just the single stars making a comeback either with MAFS success stories Martha Kalifatidis and Michael Brunelli as well as new parents Jules and Cam also heading back to set.

As is Tracey Jewel who found love outside of the show with her high school sweetheart Nathan 'Nate' Constable. The pair are expecting their first child together, a sibling for Tracey’s daughter from a previous relationship.
